About

Hi, I'm Ben Fox.

I'm a video editor in Richmond, Virginia, and I love telling stories through the cut.

Since 2022 I've been an Associate Editor with SuperJoy at MARTIN*, cutting broadcast commercials, short-form vertical video for social, and internal promotional videos for brands including GEICO, CarMax, UPS, STIHL, Royal Caribbean, and Subway (the rest are on the commercial page). Working directly with creative directors and agency producers, I take projects from multi-camera dailies and rough assemblies through to final delivery.

I care about dialogue rhythm, comedic timing, pacing, and visual continuity, whether the cut is a 30-second broadcast spot or a vertical social edit. I also take care of the technical finish: color roundtrips, broadcast conforms, prep for the final audio mix, and large project archives.

A fascination with culture and storytelling led me to study Film & Media Studies and Anthropology at William & Mary, with a semester of visual anthropology at the University of St Andrews. After graduating in 2019 I spent a month in Sarajevo filming the American Bosnian Collaboration Project, then went on to edit farming reality TV, including Live to Farm and Corn Warriors.

Away from the edit I love film, music, and books, and I've volunteered with the Richmond Folk Festival since 2010, where I'm a team leader on the music logging team.

I've also worked on set as a camera operator, DIT, and sound recordist on reality and documentary shoots, so I know the footage before it ever reaches the edit. Through Ben Fox Media I take on freelance editing, videography, and finishing work. If you have a story in the works, let's talk.
